Parson signs bill to stop KC landfill plans

Gov. Mike Parson signed legislation designed to stop a new landfill from coming to fruition in south Kansas City.

“This commonsense measure will ensure homeowners have more of a say in what developments are allowed in their communities,” Parson said.

KC Recycle & Waste Solutions has sought to build a landfill at Kansas City’s southern border with Raymore. Last month, the city of Raymore reached a deal that includes a land purchase in order to stop the landfill project.
