ReeceNichols, Ronald McDonald House Charities partner for Gold Key project

The Gold Key Project, a collaboration between ReeceNichols Real Estate and Ronald McDonald House Charities, officially launched April 2021. While ReeceNichols has always been charity minded, there was a desire to find an organization that could benefit from putting the entire weight of the company behind it. Ronald McDonald House Charities was chosen for its similar values and connection to the community that is shared by ReeceNichols.

In 2020, a four-month pilot program for the Gold Key Project involving 38 ReeceNichols agents raised $31,000, providing 310 nights for families to stay at the Ronald McDonald houses in Kansas City. It costs Ronald McDonald House Charities $100 for a family to stay one night at one of their houses. Each ReeceNichols agent involved in the pilot program pledged to give $100 to Ronald McDonald House Charities of Kansas City for every house they helped buy and sell. The pilot program exceeded its original goal by more than 500%.

Now ReeceNichols has opened the program to its entire organization, including the Springfield and Branson area offices, which are partnering with Springfield-based Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Ozarks, and the Joplin office, which is partnering with Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Four States. “I’m so excited that we’ve opened it up to the whole organization now,” said Rick Witeka, senior vice president of brokerage for the southern division of ReeceNichols. “We went from 38 agents in the pilot program last year to more than 270 agents, employees and management this year.” The goal for the 2021 campaign is $100,000.

“We’re privileged to be a part of this program,” said Witeka. “It’s exciting to open it up for the whole company to participate and we hope next year grows even more so we can help even more families.”

“This is a new partnership for us,” said Bonnie Keller, president and CEO of Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Ozarks. “We are thrilled to be a part of it, especially after seeing the success this past year in Kansas City during the pandemic.”

Keller said the Springfield Ronald McDonald House helps up to 24 families a day with overnight accommodations. During COVID many families have opted to stay in the hospital with their child and “we’ve been able to bring the house to them” by providing meals and welcome bags stocked with hygiene items and other things they might need to stay comfortable. Keller stated this partnership helps make all that possible.

“There’s such a special part of looking at ReeceNichols helping people find their dream home and then also contributing to help people who need a temporary home during what may be the most difficult time of their life,” said Keller. “The families at the Ronald McDonald House have seriously ill children and every time one of the participating agents contributes their $100, that covers a night’s stay for a family. It’s such a meaningful gift.” Families stay at the Ronald McDonald House at no cost to them and the money contributed by ReeceNichols helps cover fees that the charity incurs.

The Gold Key Project will run from April through October 2021, with ReeceNichols agents committing to donate $100 from each transaction that closes during that time period to the Ronald McDonald House nearest them. ReeceNichols’s lending partner, Prosperity Home Mortgage, LLC, is also pledging to give a donation to Ronald McDonald House Charities. The Gold Key Project will continue as a yearly program.
