Project description: At the historic Phenix Quarry between Ash Grove and Walnut Grove, the Phenix Marble Fabrication facility will produce a variety of marble products. The site will feature a gantry crane capable of moving 40-ton slabs of marble on to a cart and rail system that runs in and out of the building, project officials say. The interior will house saws and polishers, a water filtration system and a 10-ton gantry crane to run the entire length of the building. Slone Architects Inc. is designing the project, with civil and mechanical, electrical and plumbing engineering work by ESC Inc. Consulting Engineers. Both ESC and Bergmann Engineering Co. LLC are structural engineers on the project.
