Stand-Up for Quality Senior Health Care at Springfield Rehab

Posted online
Springfield Rehab & HealthCare Center is a part of the National Healthcare Corporation. Our focus is on providing higher quality healthcare services for seniors. Our daily meetings are based on the Ritz-Carlton Customer Service model and each day as a team, we review one of the 20 promises set for that day. This customer service model has become ingrained in all our partners, and it begins at orientation.

These promises include:
addressing patient needs with a sense of urgency,
putting our heart into everything we do,
only making promises to patients that we can keep, and;
responding to patient needs rather than maintaining our own schedules.

These daily Stand-Up meetings remind us of the type of customer service each partner committed themselves to in orientation. To simplify our culture, our motto is “Care is our business.”

Family-like environment fosters loyalty
Consistency in care is key when it comes to keeping patients happy. Unfortunately, turnover in the healthcare industry in general is astronomical but that’s not the case at Springfield Rehab. Many of our partners have been here for more than 20 years and we can proudly boast that one of our employees has been working at the facility since we opened in 1982! We foster a family-like environment, which keeps our employees happy and makes them want to stay with us to continue their careers. Not only do we care for our patients, but we also provide that same care for our partners.
Community engagement
Our parent corporation, National Healthcare Corporation started The Foundation for Geriatric Education (TFGE) in 1982. TFGE funds and supports the purchase of videos, books, and other learning tools to improve the quality of education in geriatrics. Its program expenses aim to develop and enhance geriatric curricula in healthcare teaching programs, encourage students to specialize in geriatrics, and generate funds. Springfield Rehab works with and contributes to the Gerontology Club at MSU, and also works with OTC students as a site for clinical experience in healthcare fields (i.e. Certified Nursing Assistants and Medication Technicians).

We are also involved with the Springfield Walk to End Alzheimer’s, as almost half of our residents have some form of Alzheimer’s or dementia. We, as Springfield Rehab, and as a corporation, are very supportive of this cause. Springfield Rehab organizes a team each year to walk in support of our patients.

At the end of the day, patients and partners are not just a number at Springfield Rehab.
