Virgin Galactic: Demand for space travel is surging

Virgin Galactic officials say demand for commercial space travel is on the rise.

The company disclosed the receipt of nearly 8,000 registrations of interest for future flights. It's sold 600 tickets for its inaugural flights that are scheduled to launch later this year.

However, Virgin Galactic reported a $73 million quarterly net loss.
