Houston High School gymnasium
423 W. Pine St., Houston
Terracon Consultants Inc. is the geotechnical engineer for Houston High School’s new $6.1 million gymnasium. The 1,500-seat, championship-size gym features two locker rooms, a coach’s office, video scoreboard, basketball and volleyball courts, batting cages and a new sound system, officials say. The design by Paragon Architecture LLC includes the ability to add 500 seats. Gentry Construction Co. Inc. (Houston) is the general contractor and additional engineering work is provided by Anderson Engineering Inc., civil; Toth and Associates Inc., structural; and CJD Engineering LLC, mechanical, electrical and plumbing. The project is slated for completion in May.
Plaza Shopping Center gained an arcade with the March 1 opening of The Flying Lap LLC; the repurposing of space operated by Burrell Behavioral Health resulted in the March 18 opening of the company’s second autism center; and a group of downtown business owners teamed up to reopen J.O.B. Public House.
