Justin Orf, 25, kickstarted his professional career by making clear his intention to serve others. Orf was elected to Nixa City Council in 2016, making him the youngest person to hold the role at 20 years old.
When he’s not appointing city officials, rebranding Nixa’s image or voting for economic development opportunities, Orf is an engineer intern at CJW Transportation Consultants LLC. He took the role after graduating from two universities with degrees in political science and engineering.
“For as long as I am working, I want to be focused on serving the community,” he says. “As an engineer, this means focusing on improvements that ensure the community remains safe and is prepared to handle growth.”
First job? A dishwasher at Heritage Cafeteria. I worked there the summer before I started my first year at Missouri State University.
Proudest moment? I don’t know if I have a moment that I am proudest of just yet, but being the youngest person ever elected to Nixa City Council is definitely up there.
Theme song? “You’re Nobody Till Somebody Wants You Dead” by Saint Motel.
Favorite podcast? FiveThirtyEight Politics, The Daily, and My Brother, My Brother and Me.
Recent TV show binge? “Community.” It’s fantastic to have on in the background. while I cook and do other tasks around my house after work.
