Give the Gift of High Expectations
My number one responsibility as a leader is not to just take people where they want to go, but to push them beyond what they think their abilities are and to craft that vision. I like to give the gift of high expectations and help team members find their why, so that they believe in themselves and what they can accomplish. It’s key to identify the strengths of my team and be able to maximize them in order to reach high goals toward a unified vision. Because of this, my team and I are always challenging the status quo.
There are currently more women and young professionals within leadership roles at organizations and at the Board table.Experienced leaders are seeing the importance of having a woman’s perspective, along with the need to foster a new generation of leaders in the workplace and community.
When given a seat at the table, we need to be confident that we belong and have earned it. We have a voice that is knowledgeable, confident, and open to new ideas. It is important that we make our opinions known and hold firm to what we believe in.
Young professionals tend to want to say “yes” to every opportunity but no one can do and maintain it all. I’m currently learning the art of saying “no” and the importance of creating an intentional lifestyle.
Find your why and live in fierce pursuit of aligning with it.
